SOUTH SCRANTON CONNECTOR TRAIL

Residents of South Scranton, especially those in the Valley View apartments between Connell Park and I-81, have the Pinchot State Forest in their back yard. Few neighbors know about this. Those that do, don't have a safe way to access these public lands.

The South Scranton Connector Trail will resolve this, reconnecting hundreds of families and residents to the endless benefits of the outdoors. This hiking and mountain biking path will cross a creek, railroad tracks and under a highway. In partnership with Individual Abilities in Motion and Anthracite Bicycle Coalition, we are ensuring that this path will be created with accessibility and endurance in mind. The path will have level trails and stops for easy hiking or even picnicking, while providing challenging mountain biking tracks further down the line.

With future programming and support of a volunteer Friends of the Connector Trail group, this trail holds the promise of engaging youth, families and individuals throughout South Scranton in the wonders of the outdoors.
