The Board Member Perspective

When I was asked to join the board of The Cooperage Project, I was flattered and honored. This feisty and far-sighted community hub offers so much more than just events for all ages and inclinations. Their youth programs, including PopUp Club, a “STEAM-focused, hands-on, free program for middle schoolers,” Romping Radishes and COOP Camps, are all targeted to stimulate our young people and encourage them to be part of a community. Community is what the Coop’s all about, and I am consistently awed by the dedication and creativity of its staff. Though small by comparison with other community nonprofits, The Cooperage Project dreams BIG and lives up to the promise of its mission. If you have never entered the “red doors” at the front of the one-time barrel factory or met any of the wonderful folks who work behind the scenes, come visit! And please support us in our continuing efforts to survive and thrive in this currently challenging-- politically and economically-- environment. Help us build an ADA compliant walkway and more!
