Animal Care Associates Scranton, PA is an all-volunteer, non-euthanasia cat rescue organization that is near and dear to my heart. My family leaned heavily on their expertise and support when we first dipped our toes into the world of cat rescue over a decade ago, and they've been a constant source of guidance, friendship, and of course cats over the years. They're a truly tireless team that constantly stretches space and money to fit "just one more" and every single dollar donated goes directly to the care of a cat/kitten.
Your generous donation will help us pay for...
Spay: every female cat must be spayed to prevent overpopulation (average cost $150)
Neuter: every male cat must be neutered to prevent overpopulation (average cost $100)
Vaccination: all cats are vaccinated against rabies, distemper, and other dangerous illnesses (average cost $75)
FIV/FeLV testing: all cats are tested for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and Feline Leukemia Virus (average cost $40)
Medication: many cats come to us with eye and/or respiratory infections, others come with more complicated and longer term health issues (common issues ~$100; severe cases ~$1000)
Surgery: some unlucky cats come to us needing surgery to repair an injury ($500-5000)
Food: we have a lot of hungry mouths to feed, and some cats have dietary issues necessitating prescription food (special diets can exceed $100/month)
Litter: a lot of eating means a lot of using the litter box
