I support the Junior League of Scranton because of the impact this organization has on the local community. The Junior League is an organization whose mission is to support and empower our community through the work of trained volunteers and various initiatives. Our current focus area is improving health outcomes and disparities.

For more than 86 years - since 1940 - the Junior League of Scranton has been making a meaningful difference in our community through volunteer service, leadership development, and programs that improve the lives of individuals and families throughout the greater Scranton area. I am fundraising so that we can continue to do quality projects and impactful programming that make a positive difference in our community.

In 2026, we hosted many Done in a Day projects that helped individual local organizations. We also hosted a Health Fair attended by more than 300 members of the community.

In 2025, we hosted our 14th Touch A Truck event at Nay Aug Park -- the event was free to the community and brought smiles to hundreds of children!! I was honored to serve as co-chair of this amazing community event that was enjoyed by close to 1,200 attendees. Thirty local businesses brought about 45 unique vehicles that kids were able to explore up-close and hands-on! Adding to the day's fun were kids' activities, raffles, mascots, and a DJ. We also held a Food Drive for Friends of the Poor, collecting 318 pounds of non-perishable food items from event attendees.

In 2024, we held a month-long Community Food Drive that benefited hundreds of people through Bread Basket of NEPA and United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern PA's Angel's Attic Food Pantry.  Food drives have also been a hallmark Done in a Day project of the Junior League of Scranton for many years.

Since 2015, we have hosted annual Community Blood Drives with the American Red Cross, continuing the tradition of our founder, Margaret L. Richards.

We have done art programs for young people at the Boys & Girls Club, United Neighborhood Centers, and NEPA Youth Shelter, hosted Bingo for the Sister of IHM at their Marywood Residence, delivered thousands of holiday meals at both Thanksgiving and Christmas with Friends of the Poor, held park clean-ups, sorted clothes at St. Francis of Assisi Clothing Store, ran the Big Six Wheel at St. Joe's Festival, packed Adventure Tool Kits at the Everhart Museum to bring the museum to the classroom, held Kids in the Kitchen events at area libraries, collected period products for Catherine McAuley Center and the Scranton School District, and participated in many other initiatives.

Your donation will allow us to continue these types of events and more. Every dollar makes a difference; thank you for considering a donation.
