In the past year the Junior League of Scranton has been busy making  a big impact in our local community. Recent Accomplishments include:

  • Hosting our second Community Health and Wellness Fair bringing together over 40 health and wellness vendors to help our local community work towards better health and a brighter future.
  • Hosting a Free Touch-A-Truck uniting over 1,000 community members for a fun and educational day.
  • Volunteering over 400 hours of direct community service to more than 25 area non-profit organizations.
  • Collecting birthday cake supplies and packing birthday cake kits to be provided to local elementary schools.
  • Hosting our annual blood drive in coordination with the American Red Cross.
  • Facilitating multiple events including bingo, arts and crafts, caroling, and Kids-in-the-Kitchen.

The Junior League of Scranton’s history dates back to 1935, when founder Margaret L Richards determined a need in the Scranton area and formed the Welfare League of Scranton. On February 15, 1940 the League joined the Association of Junior Leagues of America and officially became the Junior League of Scranton. For more than 80 years the Junior League of Scranton has been serving the greater Scranton Community and building up women and communities in the process.
