Every day at The Cooperage Project, I get to witness moments that remind me why this place matters — the quick plans made with neighbors shopping at the farmers market (while children cling to veggie-filled tote bags!), the courage of a teen stepping up to the mic at Teen Open Mic, the easy conversations that unfold at our Senior Gatherings...

But my connection to The Cooperage is also deeply personal.

When I moved here nine years ago, this organization became my doorway into the community. I was hired to coordinate a brand-new afterschool program for middle school students — what is now Pop-Up Club — and it ended up shaping not just my work, but my understanding of this place.

Pop-Up Club was built from a real need voiced by the community: young people needed a space to go after school where they could explore different interests and discover more about themselves. What made it truly special was how it came to life. People from across our community — scientists, bankers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs, makers — showed up to share their time, skills, and passion with these kids.

It was the best possible introduction to this community. I saw firsthand how much people care, how willing they are to give, and how much we all have in common. We love where we live, and we show up for each other in big, meaningful ways.

For the past eight years — and nearly seven as Executive Director — I’ve had the privilege of continuing to build on that spirit. The Cooperage Project exists to channel that kind of generosity and connection, creating opportunities for people of all ages to come together, feel valued, and add value in ways that foster a true sense of belonging.

I’m asking you to support The Cooperage Project this NEPA Gives (June 4–5). Your gift helps ensure these programs continue to grow and remain accessible to the people who count on them — and to those who don’t yet know they need them.

Thank you for being part of this community with me!
