Wilkes-Barre City Special Needs Playgrounds

The Wilkes-Barre Special Needs Playground Fund, led by Wilkes-Barre Mayor George C. Brown, was established in 2021. Through the generosity of the community and utilization of grants, inclusive playground equipment was installed, and the first All-Inclusive Playground was opened in October 2022 in Kirby Park. In September 2025, the second All-Inclusive Playground at the Bog was opened. Also during this time, inclusive playground equipment was added to additional neighborhood parks, including the Nathan Gray Memorial Playground, in South Wilkes-Barre. Additional funds raised will allow additional inclusive playground equipment to be installed in neighborhood parks.
