"They were students who never would have sat at the same lunch table."
That's how Agape Retreat director and Holy Redeemer faculty member Marino Angeloni described the students who, through the profound experience of an Agape Retreat, not only became unlikely friends but perhaps bonded for life by something truly transformational.
The word “agape” comes from the Greek word for God’s unconditional love, and retreats called “Agape” are built around helping participants experience that love personally and communally.
At their core, Agape retreats help participants grow in their relationship with Jesus and understand God’s unconditional love through prayer, reflection, and community.
Through liturgy and other prayer, talks, personal testimonies, and small-group discussions, leaders and participants share real-life stories of faith and struggles as they come to know themselves and God on a much deeper level.
Games and fellowship activities are also part of the plan, and they are designed to build community and trust among participants
The retreat starts gently and deepens through the weekend, and participants are sent home refreshed, renewed and recharged in their faith.
This experience has become highly sought after at Holy Redeemer, and we would like to be able to offer it to more students each year. All donations will help cover expenses associated with the retreat and ensure that no one seeking this incredible opportunity is denied it based on finances.
