Sit & Stay Pet Support Fund

Every pet deserves the chance to live a healthy, safe, and happy life, but for many families, unexpected veterinary expenses can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why we created the Sit & Stay Pet Support Fund.

Founded through the support of the community and administered through the Scranton Area Community Foundation, our fund helps pets across Northeastern Pennsylvania receive the care they need when their families need help the most.

This fund was inspired by pets like Pippa and Blue.

Pippa was born blind and after being rescued she began suffering from seizures. She needed an MRI to determine the cause and find the proper treatment, but the testing was incredibly expensive. Through community support and fundraising efforts, we were able to help raise money for the care she needed. Pippa was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and is now thriving, seizure-free, and living the happiest life thanks to the proper medication and treatment.

Blue’s story was another reminder of how quickly emergencies can happen. After being hit by a car, Blue required urgent emergency veterinary care. Through the generosity of this community, we were able to help raise funds to cover the cost of his treatment and recovery.

Those experiences showed us just how important community support can be for pet owners facing unexpected medical crises — and they became the foundation for creating the Sit & Stay Pet Support Fund.

As pet owners ourselves, we understand firsthand how devastating and overwhelming unexpected veterinary expenses can be. We deeply believe pets belong at home with the families who love them, and no one should ever have to choose between getting their pet the medical care they need and paying for everyday necessities.

We also help families facing temporary hardship with everyday pet-related needs such as routine veterinary care, vaccinations, food, and essential supplies. Life can change unexpectedly, and sometimes even small forms of support can make the difference in helping a family keep their pet safe, healthy, and at home where they belong.

Over the past year, your donations have continued changing lives.

Because of this community, we were able to help Witten receive emergency surgery for a life-threatening obstruction. We were also able to assist two senior Maltese dogs in receiving urgent dental care and medical treatment they desperately needed.

These are not just animals. They are family members. Best friends. Sources of comfort, love, and companionship.

Through the Sit & Stay Pet Support Fund, donations help provide:

• Emergency veterinary care

• Spay and neuter assistance

• Vaccinations and preventative care

• Essential pet supplies and support

• Assistance for local families facing hardship

As a husband-and-wife team behind Sit & Stay Pet Sitting, we see every day how deeply people love their pets. We also see how many families are struggling to keep up with rising veterinary and pet costs. This fund was created to bridge that gap and ensure pets in our community are not left without care simply because of financial hardship.

NEPA Gives is one of the biggest reasons this fund continues to grow and help more animals every year. Every donation, every share, and every kind word truly makes a difference.
