Lackawaxen River Trails is a multi-use trail system connecting Honesdale to Lackawaxen that unites existing and future greenways and waterways. That means trails for hiking and biking as well as paddling and fishing.

The efforts of trail builders have made major strides in just the last decade leveraging partnerships on the state and county level to develop the first publicly accessible river accesses on the Lackawaxen in Hawley, White Mills, Honesdale and Indian Orchard! Join us as a donor, volunteer, or nature lover!

Lackawaxen River Trails, a nonprofit, generates funding and oversees the development of new public trails and accesses including the recent Gorge Trail connector between Lake Wallenpaupack and Hawley. Volunteers and a grassroots effort of fundraising has helped match state grants from the PA Fish & Boat Commission as well as PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and local partners.

The project’s long-term goals include completing and activating the river trail along four public accesses (three of which are designed to be ADA accessible) and then connect them between Honesdale and Hawley so that the trails system can accommodate various modes of travel and recreation. Thank you for your donation to help secure easements and develop trails for all!
