Fruits & Roots is Lackawanna County's first volunteer-run community fridge. Our project aims to help those suffering from any level of food insecurity with 24/7 access to nutritious, fresh food. No questions asked.
This fridge is for the kid who knows that an apple is better to eat than a bag of chips but who's parents or caretakers can't afford produce this month.
This fridge is for those who work nontraditional hours that can't make it to a food pantry during open hours.
This fridge is for those struggling with chronic conditions where a healthy diet is crucial to manage symptoms but not always in the budget.
This fridge is for kids to learn that we have a social responsibility to help our neighbors in need.
This fridge is for those who don't qualify for governmental food support, but need some extra help from time to time.
