A LEGACY BUILT BY COMMUNITY

Today, the Music Box stands as Pennsylvania’s oldest continuously operating dinner theatre, a rare and cherished piece of performing arts history. In a world where community spaces and live arts organizations continue to disappear, the Music Box remains a place where generations come together. Parents who once performed on our stage now watch their children step into the spotlight. Lifelong friendships have been formed backstage. Volunteers have dedicated decades of their lives to building sets, sewing costumes, serving meals, playing music, and keeping the curtain rising year after year.In 1981, a small group of passionate community members came together with a dream: to create a place where people could gather, tell stories, make music, and experience the magic of live theatre together. What they built became The Music Box Players, and more than 45 years later, that dream is still alive. Perhaps most remarkably, some of the very people who helped found the Music Box more than four decades ago are still part of our theatre family today. Their dedication helped create a legacy that continues to inspire thousands throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.

MORE THAN A THEATER

For many in our community, the Music Box is more than a theatre. It is a second home.

It is where children discover confidence for the first time. It is where audiences gather to laugh, cry, sing along, and escape into stories together. It is where volunteers, performers, musicians, technicians, and patrons become family. As one of the few remaining dinner theatres in Pennsylvania, the Music Box offers a uniquely immersive experience that blends live entertainment, dining, education, and community connection under one roof. That tradition is increasingly rare, and preserving it matters.

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE

This year, our NEPA Gives campaign is about protecting that legacy while building a stronger future for the next generation of performers, musicians, students, volunteers, and audiences.

Your support will help us:

  • Construct a dedicated storage facility to preserve over four decades of costumes, props, furniture, and scenic materials that tell the story of our history
  • Purchase new microphones and upgrade sound equipment so every performance can be experienced at its very best
  • Create additional rehearsal and creative space for productions, concerts, and educational programming
  • Modernize our ticketing and patron systems to better serve our growing community
  • Expand youth workshop scholarships and programming so every child has the opportunity to experience the confidence, creativity, and belonging that theatre can provide
  • Continue improving and preserving our facility so the Music Box can remain a home for the arts in NEPA for years to come

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Every donation, no matter the size, becomes part of the story of the Music Box. Your support helps preserve a tradition that has brought joy, creativity, friendship, and opportunity to our community for more than 45 years.

The Music Box was built by generations of people who believed local theatre mattered. With your help, we can ensure future generations continue to find inspiration, connection, and a place to belong under our lights.

Thank you for helping us keep the curtain rising!
