GASLIGHT THEATRE COMPANY is an award-winning theatre organization elevating artists and our community. While there are more than 15 other theatre companies in NEPA, Gaslight is the only one with the mission to produce classical, original, and underproduced works. Additionally:
-
We're not just looking to sell tickets. We aim to give both audiences and artists the highest standard in productions and create an experience that is entertaining, educational, and thought-provoking. When selecting titles, we prioritize how we can educate and make inaccessible materials accessible while also keeping our ticket prices the lowest in the region.
-
Our programming goes beyond plays and musicals. We've workshop many original plays, hosted free play readings, presented unique improv shows, partnered with organizations and college classes, and put on free performances of Shakespeare on the River with the Riverfront Parks Committee.
-
We've donated almost $5,000 of our ticket sales over the years to other nonprofits. This includes locally with the Peace and Justice Center and Children’s Service Center and nationally with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, UNICEF, Gilda’s Club, and others.
-
Our strong reputation is backed by some nice accolades. Gaslight's known for not only what we present but also how we present it. Since joining the Northeastern Pennsylvania Theatre Alliance 10 years ago, we've been recognized with 85 NEPTA nominations and 35 awards.
-
Our nomadic approach fuels our innovation. We've popped up shows in abandoned churches, unused storefronts, parks, and... yes... other actual theaters. But Gaslight has always been driven to make use of any space as a stage and get creative with our resources.
GASLIGHT'S GOALS
Your support helps Gaslight offset costs for production rights and materials so we can continue connecting audiences with unique and original titles. Your donation directly supports Gaslight's core goals:
- Continuing mission-driven productions and programming
- Keeping ticket prices the lowest in the region
- Building a start-up nest egg for a new venue
