Friends of Camp Louise

The Friends of Camp Louise (FoCL) is an all-volunteer group that has rescued the former Girl Scout Camp and are in the process of preserving it for future generations of youth and adults from all walks of life to enjoy. As a former property of the Penn's Woods Girl Scouts, the Camp has served Luzerne and the surrounding six counties for over fifty years. The consolidated Council, located in Harrisburg, closed the site and abandoned it. A local group, purchased it and leases it to FoCL as we work towards purchasing it in the future. We have renamed our camp "Camp Louise Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education". Last year, we have had wonderful volunteers from all walks of life and all ages that invested over 2,800 volunteer hours continuing to bring the facility back to usable condition. Through their efforts we have been able to offer a week long day camp for area children, a youth fishing derby, several nature education programs, an Autism Day for families, a family camping weekend and have two areas open for overnight camping,  Thanks to our proceeds from 2025's Day of Giving we will be offering several mini day camps and art camps this coming summer and are now well into the process of rehabilitating Wise Lodge. Although we have had many generous donations from area businesses, we still need help to fully rehab and open the entire property to give community groups the best in natural education and recreation. Our members number over 1,500 and come from all over the globe and have joined with one purpose. Won't you help us preserve the Camp Louise Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education?
