Build-N-Athlete: Leveling the Playing Field—One Athlete at a Time

At Build-N-Athlete, we believe every child deserves the chance to play—with pride, confidence, and the gear that makes them feel like they belong. Our mission is simple but powerful: to eliminate financial barriers in youth sports by providing kids with the equipment they need—and want.

Founded by Jon and Randi Casey in memory of Jon’s mother, Build-N-Athlete is rooted in community. What started as a passion project in Blakely, PA has quickly grown into a movement, helping nearly 200 young athletes across Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. From cleats and cheer shoes to baseball gloves and more, we make sure kids don’t just show up, they show up ready.

Our work has been recognized by several organizations and local businesses, highlighting how we’re building more than athletes—we’re building confidence, inclusion and opportunity.

The community continues to drive everything we do. Through the support of local businesses, donors, and volunteers, we’ve been able to grow our impact year over year. Our signature event—the Build-N-Athlete 10K, 5K, Walk & Kids Fun Run on Sunday, May 31, 2026—brings that community together in a powerful way, celebrating movement, momentum and mission.

But the need continues to grow.

Every week, we hear from families who simply can’t afford the equipment required for their child to participate. With your support through NEPA Gives, we can meet that need—equipping more athletes, reaching more families, and ensuring no child is left on the sidelines because of cost.
