African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC)

Founded in 1999 and based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) empowers Catholic women religious in Africa through education and leadership development. By expanding access to higher education, professional training, and capacity-building programs, ASEC equips sisters to lead and serve in their communities while addressing local and global challenges.

ASEC partners with congregations, higher education institutions, and organizations across Africa and the United States to strengthen the impact of women religious in areas such as education, healthcare, social services, administration, and community development. Through these collaborative efforts, sisters are able to better respond to the needs of the communities they serve and create lasting change.

ASEC’s mission is to educate Catholic women religious in Africa to strengthen their leadership capacity to provide services that address local and global challenges.
