Wilkes-Barre Academy

Wilkes-Barre Academy began in the late 1970s as Small Wonders Preschool, founded by two sisters with a mission to provide high-quality early education that supported working-class families. Over time, it grew into a K–8 non-profit secular school committed to academic excellence and community. Today, we proudly offer a learning environment that is both academically rigorous and deeply personal—where every student is known, challenged, and supported. At Wilkes-Barre Academy, learning is just the beginning.

Our certified teachers and small class sizes foster strong academic growth, preparing students to excel in secondary schools, colleges, and beyond. We welcome families of all religious backgrounds and maintain a culture of respect, inclusivity, and collaboration. Families are deeply involved in school life, strengthening the partnership between home and school and helping create an environment where students truly flourish.

To support today’s working families, we also offer extended care options before and after school, ensuring children are safe, supported, and engaged throughout the day.
