The Walk In Art Center--A Super Cool Place to Be!

The Walk In Art Center started in 2011 as part of the revitalization plan by the borough of Schuylkill Haven and was to become a place where the community could come together for special events, children and adults could take art classes to develop their confidence and creativity, and also serve as an incubator for budding artists and a home for established artists to collaborate and create.

Its mission is to inspire, equip, and celebrate the cultural and creative talent of Schuylkill County.  More than 11,000 visit the WIAC each year and it has truly become the heart of Schuylkill Haven. Because of YOU, the WIAC can offer scholarships for Summer Art Camps, free classes for Veterans, collaborations with St. Joseph's Center for Special Learning and other organizations for folks with Special Needs, and so much more.

16 artist studios with 17 resident artists & 20+ associate artists & a Main Gallery for art exhibitions and special events

A Fiber Arts Classroom

sometimes called the "loom room" it's home-base for the WIAC's Fiber Arts Guild with more than 30 members who meet 3 times weekly for weaving, spinning, dyeing, and all things fiber.  The WIAC's Sheep-to-Shawl teams regularly participate and win competitions around the state.

A state-of-the-art Art Education Center

The Walk In Art Center has year-round classes in all mediums and Summer Art Camp in July and August.  There are classes offered for homeschooled students, folks with special needs, seniors, and veterans.

It's also a meeting space for community groups including the Schuylkill Shutter Society, Teen Art Creative, and Clay Haven Pottery Group.  They offer opportunities for people to get together with others who share similar interests to work at their own pace on projects, to develop their skills or discover new ones, and to congregate with creative people.
