Schuylkill County Council for the Arts Inc

The Schuylkill County Council for the Arts (SCCA) is a nonprofit community arts organization dedicated to supporting the arts and artists in Schuylkill County. Housed inside the Historic Frank D. Yuengling Mansion in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, the SCCA serves as both a cultural center and the steward of one of Schuylkill County’s most treasured historic landmarks.

Built in 1913 as the home of Frank D. Yuengling, the mansion is far more than a preserved building — it is an active, living space where history and creativity meet. Since 1978, when the property was entrusted to the Arts Council, the mansion has not only been maintained as a museum, but as a place the public can truly use and experience. Every week, its rooms are filled with piano lessons, art workshops, exhibitions, performances, community events, weddings, and educational programs for children and adults alike.

SCCA’s mission is simple: to provide opportunities for artistic expression, education, and community engagement regardless of age, background, or income. We host art classes, artist residencies, exhibits, seasonal markets, and family-friendly programming that introduce people to creativity in a welcoming and approachable way. For many local artists, the mansion is the first place they ever display their work. For many children, it is the first place they take an art class or discover a love for music.

Caring for a 110-year-old historic property while also operating a year-round nonprofit arts organization is a significant responsibility. The mansion requires constant preservation work — from restoring original architectural features and maintaining the grounds to repairing aging infrastructure — all while remaining open and accessible to the public. Unlike a private venue, every improvement we make directly benefits the community.
