A Century of Sound: The Shenandoah Valley Blue Devil Band

     Founded in 1927, the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devil Band has been the heart and soul of our community for generations. From its humble beginnings, the band has grown into a proud tradition —uniting students, alumni, and neighbors through music, performance, and school spirit.

    As we look ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2027, we honor the legacy of those who came before us, while marching boldly into a new era of music and excellence. This centennial celebration isn't just about history—it's about the next 100 years.  To celebrate our band's 100th anniversary, we will be traveling to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH, where students will be perform and experience music history firsthand. 

     The Shenandoah Valley School District was named one of the "Best Communities for Music Education Award" winner by the NAMM Foundation for the sixth year in a row.  Our students are incredibly active year round, preparing and performing in three major annual concerts in December, March, and May.  Beyond our concert series, our musicians are heavily engaged in a diverse array of specialized ensembles including: Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, and Saxophone Ensemble.  Our talented students consistently represent SV at prestigious festivals and honors ensembles such as County Band, Jr. County Band, Northumberland Schuylkill Regional Honors Band, Susquehanna University Bandfest, Lebanon Valley College Bandfest, PMEA District 10 Elementary and Intermediate Bandfests, and County Chorus.  We have traveled to perform for the Reading Fightin' Phils, the Reading Royals, The Bloomsburg Fair, and the Gratz Fair, alongside our traditional spirited appearances at every SV football game and local parades.
