I began my journey at Lackawanna College in 2010, and over the past 15 years, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact this institution has had on countless lives. Founded in 1894 and nestled in the heart of downtown Scranton, Lackawanna College has evolved from its origins as a business school into a dynamic, accredited institution offering over 60 degree and certificate programs across various fields, including healthcare, criminal justice, information technology, and culinary arts. The college's mission—to provide quality education to all who seek to improve their lives and better their communities—resonates deeply with me. Innovative initiatives like the nationally recognized Level Up program, which allows high school students to earn college credits, and the Parent Pathways Grant, supporting parenting students with tuition assistance and emergency funding, exemplify the college's commitment to accessibility and student success. With satellite centers in Hawley, Hazleton, Sunbury, Towanda, Tunkhannock, and an Environmental Education Center in Covington Township, Lackawanna College extends its reach throughout Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania, continually adapting to meet the evolving needs of its diverse student body. Being part of this institution has been an inspiring experience, as I've seen students from all walks of life empowered to achieve their goals and make meaningful contributions to their communities.
The student affairs division of Lackawanna College is committed to making the college environment welcoming to new and returning students. Through the offering a variety of programming and services, the students are encouraged to experience community, explore common values, and enhance their personal, intellectually, and social development.
