Barrett Friendly Library

Barrett Friendly Library, now known as Barrett Paradise Friendly Library, was founded on a resident’s front porch in 1909. We have been serving our community ever since. 

Our Mission: To strengthen our community, the Library connects people with ideas, experiences, and each other, inspiring them to dream and succeed as lifelong learners. 

We provide a full range of public library services: 
• Books, magazines & newspapers, movies, and other materials for education, information, job searches, and entertainment, in various formats from paper to digital to streaming. Downloadable books, audio books, magazines, movies, music, and more are available through Libby and Hoopla.
• Access to more than 1.4 million items through our "resource sharing" network with libraries throughout the Poconos and Lehigh Valley.
• Programs and events for people of all ages, including story hours and programs for children from birth through kindergarten; parenting and family programs; engaging activities for school-age children and teens; book clubs for many interests; a weekly Shakespeare study group; monthly movie day; programs on health & wellness; crafts for all ages; an online creative writing group; and much more! 
• Technology! Computers & internet, free wi-fi, and wi-fi printing; copying and faxing (for nominal fees); tech help for basic computer skills and using tablets & cell phones. 
• Friendly and knowledgeable staff! 
• A warm, inviting atmosphere with comfortable seating.

With well over 100 years of uninterrupted service, our Library is a valued, beloved center for community life. We take pride in that reputation and strive to keep evolving in serving our residents’ needs.
