Barbuti Kitten Academy & Charm School

We’re proud to announce that The Barbuti Kitten Academy & Charm School is now an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing support and compassion for unwanted or unhoused cats and kittens in our community.

Our goal is simple but intentional: to relieve the pressure on local rescues and animal advocates by focusing on an often-overlooked niche:

• Pregnant and nursing cats and their litters

• Undersocialized and fearful kittens who need structured, patient socialization (“Charm School”)

• Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) support, including trapping assistance, recovery space, and coordination
  
  

This niche focus exists by design. Space limitations mean we can’t do everything, but we can do this exceptionally well — and in doing so, free up resources and cages for other emergencies in our local shelters and rescue groups.

To meet this mission, we are upgrading unused space within our headquarters to create a dedicated, rescue-only environment. This investment will:

• Provide safe, quarantined areas for incoming rescues, reducing disease transmission risk

• Allow us to increase headcount and fully commit to saving more cats and kittens

• Give pregnant/nursing moms, litters, and undersocialized kittens the space they need to thrive

• Offer safe recovery space for cats undergoing TNRs

With your support, we’re launching a fundraiser to build this foundation. Our immediate goals include (with estimated monthly needs):

• Neonatal & Nursery Supplies – formula, bottles, heating pads, scales, disinfectants. ($200/month)

• Veterinary Care Fund – exams, vaccines, deworming, testing, medications, spay/neuter. ($600/month)

• TNR Support Kit – humane traps, trap covers, transfer cages, recovery crates, spay/neuter costs. ($200/month)

• Quarantine & Safety Upgrades – enclosures, air purifiers, sanitation tools, PPE. ($100/month)

• Socialization Tools – climbing furniture, hidey cubes, enrichment items for “Charm School.” ($150/month)

• Emergency Medical Reserve – for critical care or unexpected surgeries. ($1,000 reserve)

• Microchips & Identification – chips, registration fees, collars/tags. ($150/month)

• Transport & Logistics – carriers, travel crates, transport mileage and supplies. ($350/month)

• Mom & Kitten On-Boarding – litter, food, bedding, bowls, care supplies. ($500/month)

• Admin & Compliance Basics – insurance, adoption software, printing, outreach materials. ($250/month)
