About 2 1/2 years ago, my husband and I rescued a boxer/bulldog mix from the streets of Texas.  Rocky has been the most incredibly gentle, loving dog we have ever had.  But it was obvious that he was lonely and wanted a playmate.  One of the AABR volunteers let us know about the Sunrise Seven.  This absolutely gorgeous litter of pups were surrendered by an overwhelmed owner. The pups had a rough start, but AABR slowly taught them to trust and love. When we saw Rylee (formerly Suzette), we knew instantly that we had to make the trip to Long Island and bring her home to Pittsburgh. It's been a little over two months since we adopted her, and she and Rocky grow closer every day.  Rylee did not know how to walk down steps or play with toys when she came home. Rocky has taught her those things and so much more.  They love going on walks together, and Rylee likes to prop her head up on Rocky to take a nap. The change she has made in Rocky is also amazing.  He is so much more energetic and playful.  We debated a long time about adopting a second dog, but bringing Rylee home was absolutely the right thing to do.  We cannot thank all the volunteers at AABR for the incredibly hard work they do every day.  It makes a difference not only in the lives of the dogs they rescue, but to the families who are lucky enough to adopt them.
