A Passion for Boxers, A Commitment to Rescue

I love dogs — and for me, that love has turned into action. I volunteer with AABR both as a foster mom and as a board member, and it’s one of the most rewarding things I do. Over the years I’ve fostered 125 dogs, and 12 of them never quite made it back out the door — we call those “foster fails,” and honestly, they’re my favorite kind of success story.

About AABR

Adopt a Boxer Rescue (AABR) is a nonprofit dedicated to saving boxers from deplorable conditions and giving them the medical care, love, and second chances they deserve. We operate throughout the northeastern United States — Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, northern Virginia, Washington D.C., New Hampshire (within an hour of the Massachusetts border), and Rhode Island (adoptions only).

We take our vetting process seriously. Every potential foster and adoptive home is thoroughly screened, and no dog leaves our care without having their medical needs fully addressed first. Boxers often arrive needing significant treatment, and every dollar donated goes directly toward making that happen.

If you’ve never had the pleasure of knowing a boxer, let me introduce you: they are smart, emotional, playful, protective, and wonderfully silly — yet fiercely loyal and loving. I’ve been hooked on this breed for over 30 years, and I can’t imagine a more worthy cause to pour my heart into.

Support Us Through NEPA Gives.

Once a year, your donation goes even further. On the first Thursday of June, NEPA Gives hosts a 24-hour online giving event — running from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. — where donations to participating nonprofits like AABR are enhanced with bonus funds from generous sponsors. It’s a powerful opportunity to make your generosity stretch further for the dogs who need it most.
