Serving Seniors Inc. works to improve the quality of life and care of older adults throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. For nearly 50 years, the organization has advocated for vulnerable seniors, protected their rights, and helped them access the care and support they need to live with dignity and respect.

Mission

Serving Seniors Inc.'s mission is to improve the quality of life and care of nursing home, assisted living/personal care home residents, and isolated older adults throughout the community.

Guardianship Program

Serving Seniors provides court-appointed and private guardianship services for adults who have been determined by the court to be incapacitated and unable to make certain personal or financial decisions independently. As Guardian of Person and/or Guardian of Estate, the organization helps ensure that vulnerable adults receive appropriate medical care, safe housing, financial oversight, and advocacy. The program seeks to protect individuals while preserving as much independence and self-determination as possible.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program advocates for residents of nursing homes, personal care homes, and assisted living communities. Ombudsmen investigate and help resolve concerns regarding resident care, quality of life, and resident rights. The program empowers residents and families through education, supports resident councils, and works collaboratively with long-term care facilities to ensure that residents' voices are heard and respected.

Patient Advocacy Program

The Patient Advocacy Program assists adults age 60 and older who are transitioning from hospitals or healthcare facilities back into the community. Patient advocates help seniors and their families navigate healthcare systems, understand discharge plans, connect with community resources, and coordinate services needed for a safe recovery. By addressing barriers to care and support, the program helps older adults remain independent and reduces the risk of unnecessary hospital readmissions.

Through its guardianship, ombudsman, and patient advocacy programs, Serving Seniors Inc. protects vulnerable adults, promotes resident rights, and helps older adults access the services and support they need to remain safe, healthy, and engaged in their communities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
